Quest’anno vogliamo dedicare i nostri auguri di Natale all’Italia che ci piace e che ci inorgoglisce, condividendo una favola nostrana.
Protagonista è Trivento, un paese molisano in provincia di Campobasso, di 4.650 abitanti. Fino a poco tempo fa, era soltanto uno di quei bellissimi borghi italiani, destinati purtroppo a essere dimenticati, inghiottiti dal veloce incedere della globalizzazione.
Questo video racconta di come, le sue nonne, lo abbiano invece rimesso di diritto sulla carta geografica delle eccellenze italiane, attraverso una loro straordinaria abilità: il lavoro all’uncinetto.
La storia ha veramente la magia delle fiabe più belle!
Lo scorso Natale, le anziane donne di Trivento diedero sfogo a tutta la loro creatività e abilità. Realizzarono un grande albero, interamente cucito a mano.
L’obiettivo era quello di incrementare il turismo.
Lo decorarono, così, con delle meravigliose piastrelle di tessuto colorato. Dopo le feste, ogni pezzo fu venduto e i proventi elargiti in beneficenza per varie cause sociali. L’iniziativa andò virale sui social network e venne, di conseguenza, esportata anche in Belgio, Svezia e Brasile.
Quest’anno, Trivento ha replicato la sua favola di Natale con successo. Si è spinta addirittura oltre, riempendo di mille colori, questa volta, tutto il paese. Ha coinvolto nel lavoro tutte le generazioni e è, così, diventata magicamente una meta turistica natalizia, messaggera del vero spirito del Natale.
Queste donne hanno, di fatto, ridato speranza ai giovani del loro paese:
riconciliando passato e presente,
hanno sognato insieme il futuro.
A volte, l’innovazione è più vicina di quanto si possa pensare…
Ecco, pertanto, il nostro augurio speciale: che il Natale e il 2020 siano un anno di riscoperta per tutti!

An inspiring Italian Christmas story
We’d like to dedicate this year’s Christmas wishes to the Italy we like, by sharing this inspiring Italian tale.
Its protagonist is Trivento, a small village in the province of Campobasso, 4.650 inhabitants, in the Southern region of Molise. Up until last year, Trivento was only one of the many gorgeous Italian “borghi“, destined to be forgotten, swollen by the merciless gait of globalisation.
The video below explains how, its “nonne” (grandmothers), have instead put it back into the map of Italian excellences, through an extraordinary craftsmanship: the crochet.
What happened is indeed very close to a fairy tale!
Last Christmas, these old ladies set themselves a simple objective: to increase their village’s Christmas tourism.
They wondered what they could do and, finally, decided to focus on their core competence: knitting. Using all their technical skills and creativity, they therefore made a 7-meter-tall tree, entirely sown by hand. The ladies decorated it with the most wonderfully coloured crochet creations.
After the holidays, every hand-made piece was sold. Local charities received the monies and financed various social causes. The initiative went viral and, as a consequence, other countries embraced it: Belgium, Sweden, Brasil and more.
This year, Trivento has therefore replicated its Christmas tale with huge success. It, in fact, surpassed itself: the women coloured the whole village. All generations were involved this time and, as such, Trivento has magically become one of the most desired Italian Christmas destinations. The messenger of the true spirit of Christmas.
These women have, as a matter of fact, given back to their village’s youth the hope for a future Renaissance:
reconciling the past with the present,
they are now dreaming of a future, together.
Sometimes, innovation is closer than what one can imagine…
